Also Sprach Zarathustra (arr. Peter Graham)
Richard Strauss, arr. Peter Graham
Also Sprach Zarathustra was first performed on November 27, 1896 under the baton of the composer in Frankfurt. It is one of Richard Strauss’ five tone poems for orchestra and is based on a large philosophical poem by Nietzche. The introduction, depicting a spectacular sunrise, can stand alone and as such has been widely used in television and cinema. Peter Graham’s transcription is a welcome addition to the brass band repertoire.
