Ad Optimum (Peter Graham)
$29.95
Peter Grahamn’s symphonic overture is a work in which he pays tribute to the high purposes, motivations and intentions of Salvation Army music and its bands: to glorify God and proclaim the Christian Gospel. His own song, The Name of Jesus, serves as the uniting motive and is surrounded by Laudes Domini (“May Jesus Christ be praised”) and Richmond (“O for a thousand tongues to sing”). The latter sounds out in augmentation in the concluding bars, accompanied by swirling reiterations of the uniting motive. (Time: 6:30)
