Hail SLC! (Peter Graham)

I first met Tom Scheibner in 1982 at Star Lake Music Camp and we hit it off immediately. SLMC was a big part of Tom’s life and I wanted to acknowledge this in a memorial in music, hence Hail SLC!

The march is what is commonly known in the USA as a “screamer”, a fast and furious romp containing a variety of references which I hope Tom would have approved of. The bass solo section for example presents a minor version of “Take me out to the ball game” (Tom was a huge Yankees fan); the “Star Lake Pep Song” features as the Trio section with the bridge passage being built on the musical translation of T Sch. Finally, it would be impossible not to make various references to the classic “Star Lake March” by Eric Ball including the famous (though short!) bass drum solo which I’m sure Tom enjoyed when the opportunity arose!
