The joy of freedom is the main feature expressed in this cornet duet, the title of which refers to the ringing bells of Heaven “pealing forth the anthem of the free.” The song “Sweet Chiming Bells” introduces the soloists and is heard throughout as a countermelody to the variations on the main theme, “Ring the Bells of Heaven.”
