Last weekend the band commenced its 131st season of music ministry by participating in the welcoming to the cadets at the Centennial Memorial Temple in New York City. Led by Bandmaster Derek Lance in his second season as Bandmaster, the band’s goal is to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through musical excellence and the speaking of God’s word.

The featured musical selections over the weekend were:

Living Power (Tom Davoren)
Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus (Jonathan Rowsell)
In Christ Alone (Martin Cordner)
Semper Fidelis (Martin Cordner)
Life of Worship (Andrew Wainwright)

The next engagement and first ministry weekend away is in Southern New England in October.

November: Fall Festival with The Canadian Staff Band – Toronto, Canada
December: Christmas concert – Westside Presbyterian Church
January: Recording
February: Future All-Stars / concert with Mnozil Brass
March: Tour of Japan
April: 131st Annual Festival with The Amsterdam Staff Band
May: Nassau County Concert
June: Commissioning Events

At the end of last season we had to say farewell to two members – Major Tom Dressler (2nd cornet) and Emmanuel Zabala (2nd horn). Thank you for your service, gentlemen.

We welcome three new members to the band. Major Stewart Dalrymple on Solo Cornet along with his son Mackenzie on First Horn. Stewart recently moved to New Jersey Divisional Headquarters where he will serve as the Divisional Finance Secretary. He was a member of the band eighteen years ago and it is good to welcome him back.  Mackenzie will be entering his first year of college and both him and Stewart will be soldiering at the Montclair Citadel.

Joining on Percussion is Bob Myers. Bob is from the Pendel Division where he works in the Emergency Disaster Services department. Visit the Personnel page of the NYSB web site to check out other moves and the full band roster. We are so fortunate to have a plethora of people willing to serve God with their talents and time. Please pray for us as we start this new season of music ministry.
