FEBRUARY 6-10, 2023 – The Salvation Army held a North American Camping Symposium on February 6-10, at Camp Hoblitzelle in Midlothian, Texas. This was the first time in ten years that Salvation Army camping professionals and officers from all four US Territories, as well as Canada, had come together to worship, learn, and fellowship. The theme for the symposium was, Cultivate: Gather, Grow, Go.
UBOUND was privileged to be part of such an important event, helping to refresh and equip Salvationist working and ministering at Salvation Army camps and conference centers across North America.
Every morning of the conference began with a devotional challenge presented by Captain Caroline Rowe , Corps Officer at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center of Phoenix, Arizona. Captain Rowe brought powerful insight and challenges from God’s word. These devotion times were supported by worship led by UNBOUND. Those in attendance commented on the blessing of receiving substantive teaching and of worshiping with such a high-quality group of musicians, both in ability and in sensitivity to the Spirit. UNBOUND has brought contemporary worship to new heights under the leadership of Doug Berry. Repertoire consists of so much more than the typical CCM songs and the use of much more complex music that takes a great deal of musicianship speaks to the truth that the best is being offered to the Lord. When this is combined with the humility that UNBOUND brings, people are moved in worship and God is honored.
In addition to leading worship, members of UNBOUND were also able to support the many seminars offered at the Symposium with vital UNBOUND member, Felipe Concha, leading a seminar on solving sound and audio issues at camps titled, “Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sound At Camp But Were Afraid To Ask.” The seminar was well attended and well received.
Living up to its theme, The North American Camping Symposium proved to indeed be a time of cultivation and renewal for all in attendance. UNBOUND is blessed to have been invited and looks forward to continuing to support this important Army ministry.
UNBOUND was fantastic and exactly what was needed as we gathered for worship. God poured out His favor and blessing on us through your inspired, thoughtful, and dynamic ministry. You guys took us to a place where the air is rare and the breath of God palpable.”
– Ed Covert, Chair of the National Camping Committee
Unbound is a worship team that ushers in the presence of the Holy Spirit by providing a space for people to truly worship in spirit and in truth. They are gifted musicians that are moved and directed by the Lord! Grateful for them.
