May 9-11, 2025 – Unbound was privileged to lead worship at the Western Pennsylvania Division Youth Councils held at Camp Allegheny. Captains Ashley and Larry Fulmer currently serve as the Divisional Youth Leaders. It was encouraging to see that they were not carrying the full weight of the event alone, as several local leaders provided valuable support. Among them, DMD Mabelynn Dill stood out. She looked after Unbound from the moment we arrived at camp on the first day until we departed on Sunday. Her help was invaluable, and her consistently positive attitude was deeply appreciated.
For Unbound, Thursday was dedicated to setup and soundcheck. We faced a significant challenge due to the venue’s new sound system, which still had several technical aspects to be figured out by the local staff. On this occasion, Marlon Rosario (Unbound’s guitarist) took the initiative and assisted with the sound setup. By Friday, everything was finally in place. The rest of the day was spent rehearsing until the delegates began to arrive that afternoon.
The special guests for the weekend included Lt. Colonels Debra and Steven Ashcraft, and Majors Antonio and Jennifer Rosamilia. The main speaker was Stuart Hall. Although he is not part of The Salvation Army, he has participated in various youth events around the territory for quite some time and was a familiar face to many.
The weekend program included a welcome meeting on Friday night, followed by a Saturday morning session and several small group breakouts. After lunch, there was another meeting, then free time where delegates could participate in games and crafts. In the evening, the group enjoyed The Brain Show, followed by a time of fellowship with live music from Unbound held outdoors by the campfires. On Sunday, the day began with small groups, followed by the final worship meeting.
Unbound featured Sarah Peabody on piano & vocals, Jerome Green on bass, Eli Morgan on acoustic guitar & vocals, Marlon Rosario on electric guitar, Isabella Menendez on vocals, José Tavarez on drums, and Victor Morales on guitar & vocals. The group performed exceptionally well and demonstrated great flexibility in adapting to the various program elements. Marlon Rosario did an outstanding job troubleshooting the sound system, while Isabella Menendez delivered a wonderful first performance with the group. Her positive spirit and seamless integration were a real asset.
Overall, it was a very positive and meaningful experience for Unbound to participate in this Youth Councils weekend.
